Summerland Water System Separation Project
The District of Summerland in partnership with the
Canada-British Columbia Municipal Rural Infrastructure
Fund Program and the Ministry of Community Development
in BC is pleased to announce that construction has now
begun on the Summerland Water System Separation Project.
The first phase of the work will consist of twinning
water mains and upgrading the pump stations in the
Prairie Creek area of Summerland. H & M Excavating of
Penticton and Western Industrial Contracting of
Penticton are the two prime contractors on the
project. The project is expected to take about 16 weeks
to complete.
Water System Installations - H & M Excavating
December 21, 2009
Work has ceased for the season. All pipe works have been
completed with the exception of a reconnection at
Mitchell and Verrier. This work will be completed as
soon as weather permits in the spring. There are a
number of smaller items that will need to be addressed
in the spring including some asphalt patching on Walker
Street and some isolated seeding and sodding of water
service connections. H & M Excavating will return in the
spring to complete the outstanding items.
Pump Station Upgrades - Western Industrial
Contractors:
The Tenders for the Pump Station Upgrade was awarded to
Western Industrial Contractors of Penticton. Works under
the contract include adding or upgrading pumps, new
electrical installations and other pump house
modifications. This work is necessitated as the pump
houses will now need to be capable of delivering water
to two independent systems, potable (domestic) water and
irrigation (non potable ) water.
December 21, 2009
The contract for the Pump Station Upgrades is
substantially complete. Total performance is
conditional on the District receiving the Operations and
Maintenance Manuals for the four pumphouses.
