Elections
The District of Summerland is governed by a Mayor and six Councillors elected at
local government elections held every three years. The next municipal election
will be held Saturday November 19, 2011. The District also conducts the
election for two trustees for Okanagan-Skaha School District No. 67,
Electoral Area 2.
The District of Summerland does not have a voters list so you do not have to
register prior to voting day. Summerland uses "Voting Day Only
Registration". You will need to qualify and provide 2 pieces of
identification proving identity and residency (see Voter Information below).
Voting for candidates is done by hand on specially prepared ballots. You
then put the ballot into an electronic voting machine and counting is done
electronically. Results are then available soon after the close of polls.
