PUBLIC NOTICE ROAD CLOSURE BYLAW 2000-407 PRAIRIE VALLEY ROAD
AT GRANT AVENUE
In general terms, the Community Charter permits a municipality to close a road and remove the highway dedication. In order to complete this process, Council must adopt a Road Closure and Removal of Highway Dedication Bylaw and must advertise its intent to adopt the bylaw.
Pursuant to section 40 of the Community Charter, notice is hereby given that the Council of the District of Summerland proposes to consider the adoption of Road Closure and Removal of Highway Dedication Bylaw 2000-407 at their Regular Meeting held on August 23, 2010. Bylaw 2000-407 authorizes the District of Summerland to permanently close and remove the highway dedication of a 94.0 sq. meter portion of Prairie Valley Road adjacent to 11317 Prairie Valley Rd. (Lot 10 DL 474 ODYD Plan 3777) in the District of Summerland, British Columbia.
Pursuant to section 26 of the Community Charter, the District intends to sell the 'Closed Road' under Bylaw 2000-407 to the owners of 11317 Prairie Valley Rd. These owners are proposing to dedicate a 75.9 sq. meter portion of their property on Grant Avenue for road and will pay $5,000 for the difference in land area. The applicants will also pay for the legal, advertising and survey costs related to the closure of the road and the transfer of the property. The 'Closed Road' will be consolidated with the property at 11317 Prairie Valley Rd.

A copy of the Road Closure and Removal of Highway Dedication Bylaw No. 2000-407 may be viewed at the Administration Office, Municipal Hall during normal business hours (9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday).
