Infrastructure

The Works Department is responsible for maintaining the following Infrastructures:

Cemeteries: Peach Orchard, Canyon View, Anglican
  1. Grounds Maintenance - total of grass mowed at 3 Cemeteries is 9,450 m2
  2. Installation of headstones - 2.4 acres
  3. Burials
Parks and Beaches: Memorial Park, Kin Park, Dale Meadows Ball Park, Memorial Ball Paek, Peach Rotory Beach, Powell Beach, Giant's Head Park and Julia Street Park
  1. cutting grass
  2. pruning trees
  3. watering
  4. fertilizing
  5. spraying
  6. Beach Cleaning
Roads
There are 135 kms of paved roads and 25 kms of unpaved roads in Summerland. (In Penticton there are 208 kms paved and 13 kms unpaved.

Municipal property expenses
Maintenance of Municipal property. Example: Cutting of weeds on vacant Municipal property.

Line Painting
  • Painting lines on roads and parking lots.
  • Roadside Mowing
  • 157 lane kms of roadside weeds are mowed once a year.
Patching
  1. Potholes are repaired on a continuous basis throughout Summerland.
  2. Grader patches are used on larger sections of damaged roads.
